More than 120 organizations, who collectively form the Coalition to End the Two-Year Wait for Medicare, are strongly supporting the Ending the Medicare Disability Waiting Period Act of 2009 (H.R. 1708). The act would eliminate the two-year delay for disabled people who are waiting for Medicare coverage.

CMS announced last month that it will cover bariatric surgery for morbidly obese beneficiaries who have type 2 diabetes. People with a BMI of 35 or greater are considered morbidly obese; a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal.
