Medicare Offers Online Tools to Guide 2009 Choices

On October 13, 2008, CMS announced new online tools to assist Medicare beneficiaries (and their caregivers) in choosing appropriate plans for 2009.  The following tools, available at www.medicare.gov, offer guidance on prescription drug plans and health plan information.

Concerns Raised About Performance of Medicare Appeals Office

In response to a report from the HHS Office of Inspector General, Senators Max Baucus (D-Montana) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) recently sent a letter to HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt about the performance of Medicare’s appeals office, the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA).
