CMS recently announced that it will provide higher reimbursements to medical providers who implement Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This announcement is one of several recent actions by CMS to encourage the use of information technology in the health care arena.

Medicare prescription drug plans offered by the top ten health insurers will cover 26% fewer medications next year, according to a recent analysis by Avalere Health. Of the top ten plans, all but two will decrease the number of drugs covered. In 2007, the plans covered an average of 2,892 drugs, but this number will drop to 2,134 in 2008.
